Purpose Statement

Stoa purposes to train Christian homeschooled students in Speech and Debate in order to better communicate a biblical world view.

Stoa Membership

Stoa registration is required to compete in Stoa tournaments and costs $35.00 per family per year.  Prior to registration, please read the Stoa Statement of Faith and the Stoa Eligibility Guidelines, as you will be asked to check boxes that you have read and agree to them.

Note to Parents and Coaches

Stoa desires to encourage participation in Christian Homeschool Speech and Debate activities both locally and nationally.

The Stoa National Invitational Tournament of Champions involves students regardless of their Christian Homeschool Speech and Debate Leagues. One goal is increase the number of students who have the opportunity to participate in a National Championship Event.

Parents and coaches, this means many of your students who might not otherwise have a chance to compete in a league specific “National Championship” can now experience the thrill of competing against many of the best speakers and debaters in the country. Consider joining the competition each year.

Stoa is also sponsoring a National Database for Christian Homeschool competitive forensics organizations to benefit students by compiling and tabulating results of their accomplishments. Benefits of the website include the ability to:

  1. • Validate accomplishments and grant access to college and university coaches and to provide valuable information for scholarships
  2. • Establish a National Christian Homeschool Honor Society to validate and honor participation and effort with varying levels of accomplishment
  3. • Provide a measure of support and validity for the diverse leagues and organizations that are faithfully serving at the local level
  4. • Provide Christian homeschool forensics leagues with accurate information that can be sorted and utilized as they see fit

Some frequently asked questions

Q: I am in the NCFCA. Does that exclude me from registering in Stoa, too?

Emphatically, no! We welcome members of other leagues who would enjoy competing with us where feasible for them. Stoa tournaments open to people from anywhere in the free world who are willing to pay the Stoa participation fee (is your money green?) in addition to tournament fees.

Stoa hosts the National Invitational Tournament of Champions the last week of May (estimated date), where we look forward to welcoming orators and debaters from other organizations. If you are from another speech and debate league, you may set this on your calendar as a goal to shoot for. If you know someone from another league, you may inform him or her about this opportunity to further sharpen their skills.

Q: Can I participate in both Stoa and NCFCA

A:  Yes, but you must affiliate or join both organizations separately to do so.

Q: Will Stoa be using the same Debate Resolutions as NCFCA?

A:  No.

Q: Will STOA have a “Nationals”?

A:  Yes – the Stoa National Invitational Tournament of Champions!
